The Pilot's Lounge.2

Here are some classics that I found at Everett's bone yard located at Fairbanks International.

Everett's  provides services to the villages in the Interior, in the way of fuel and heavy cargo. The retired DC6's that you see here provide parts for the  aircraft that are still in service.

Cargo is also delivered by barges that travel the Yukon, Porcupine, Tanana, or,Koyuukuk, but the wait is longer.

The C-119 with the jet engine was a modification the Indian Air Force made to the airplanes we gave them.  And yet they would use the full 11,000 feet of runway, jet engine and the engines at take off power and still run off the end!  I love the old DC-6’s; and have seen many youtube videos of Everetts Cargo and other carriers flying them up in Alaska.  I would fly up there just to try and get a ride in one of them again.  It was my favorite airplane with United for the remaining years we had them when I was there. -Jeff Lewis, Prescott, Arizona
